rFXIII Cardiac surgery
:Haemostatic agent
:Phase 2
Novo Nordisk is developing NN1810 for patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Coagulation factor XIII plays an essential role in maintaining haemostasis. Factor XIII participates in the final stage of the coagulation cascade. The main function of FXIII in plasma, is to cross-link fibrin and hence increase the stability of the clot making it mechanically stronger, more rigid and more elastic. This, in turn, secures the prevention of blood loss by increasing the resistance to fibrinolysis.
